The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (Allied) under the School of Technology is a blend of two disciplines namely, the Department of Humanities and the Department of Management. It aims at providing a wide spectrum of courses for the B.Tech students ranging from courses on Communicative English to different courses on Management. The Department plays a unique and distinct role in an institute where the ethos of Science and Technology prevails. The basic objective of this Department is to provide the budding engineers with adequate managerial know-how necessary for being a techno-commercial professional and industry-oriented. Due to this reason, a compulsory paper on Management has been introduced for each semester throughout the B.Tech course.
Besides lectures and tutorials, the Department is also involved in regular training activities along with the campus ministry wherein different training sessions mainly SDP (Student Development Programme) sessions are being conducted for all the students to make them acquainted with soft skills needed to face job interviews and groom them to become ace professionals.
Other than academic activities, the Department is also actively involved in a number of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities of the School of Social Sciences.

Apart from the above mentioned theory papers in English, the Humanities Dept also takes up Communicative Practice Lab Classes for both 1st Semester and 2nd Semester students of Engineering respectively. The objective of these lab classes is to equip the learners with basic skills of effective communication and to enable them to communicate in English fluently with along with clarity of voice.
The basic purpose of providing such a diverse array of management papers is to increase the all round knowledge of the students as engineers and enhance their professional competencies in the work field.
