The Post-Graduate Programme in Mathematics (MSc Mathematics) seeks to prepare students for a career in teaching and research. Given the immense importance of the various state/national level examinations like CSIR NET/GATE/SET, the first year courses are designed to help students qualify for such examinations. The second year specialization courses introduce application of Mathematics and topics relating to emerging research areas. The project work provides the students with fundamental skills of research in Mathematics.

Areas of Specialisation

  • Theoretical Mathematics
  • Applicable Mathematics
  • Computational Mathematics

Number of Seats

  • 40 seats in each programme

Eligibility Criteria

  • Graduation in Science with 50% of the aggregate and Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics as a subject. Candidates with honours in Mathematics will have an advantage
  • Provisional Admission: Applicants who have not yet obtained their Bachelor’s Degree also may apply for admission.
