We are located at Guwahati, the gateway to North East India, in four campuses.
The Tapesia Campus (main campus)
The Tapesia Campus (main campus), nestled in the serene Tapesia Gardens, off National Highway 37, is spread over 300 acres of undulating hills. A state-of-the-art campus with a capacity to house 5000 students and staff, an uplifting confluence of natural beauty and architectural excellence, currently houses the Schools of Humanities and Social Sciences, Applied Sciences and Life Sciences.
The Azara Campus
The Azara Campus, off the Airport Road, set in an environment of beautifully laid out gardens and lush green lawns houses the School of Technology.
The Kharguli Campus
The Kharguli Campus, situated in the Ramsai Hills, on the majestic Brahmaputra, is an architectural marvel and houses the School of Commerce and Management as well as conducts non formal vocational courses.
Maligaon Campus
Maligaon Campus, adjacent to the Railway Colony, is totally dedicated to formal and non formal vocational and skill developmental courses.
Learning Resources
Well-stocked, spacious and computerized libraries beckon the students to scholarship and research. The University subscribes to a number of e-resources such as IEEE ASPP-POP, Elsevier ScienceDirect, JSTOR, EBSCO, etc. The University also has a repository of NPTEL lectures, videos and other learning material.
IT Facilities
The University provides its students with state of the art, tastefully furnished computer labs, with over 500 computers networked under Linux; a computing centre with Internet enabled computers to serve the day-to-day computing needs of students; two language labs equipped with student consoles and language lab software and digitized audio and video material to develop interactive language skills. Broadband access with static IP addresses takes care of internet browsing requirements. The campuses are wi-fi enabled. While the University promotes the use of Free and Open Source Software, Legal Microsoft software is available to the staff and students under MSDN Academic Alliance.
High Speed Internet Connectivity and Link to National Knowledge Network (NKN)
Don Bosco University enjoys a high speed 1Gbps internet bandwidth access accorded to universities coming under the NKN network. This massive bandwidth links the university to the NKN network of institutions, providing access to a large number of libraries, on-line lectures, archived lectures of various IITs, virtual classrooms and many more facilities available under NKN.
ERP
An ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) implementation has ensured that all processes within the university are computerised and information readily accessible to authorised users (administrators, faculty, students and parents). Right from the application stage up to the time one leaves the university one can monitor one’s progress and access one’s records from the ERP system.
Entrepreneurship Development and Incubation Centre (EDIC)
The University has set up an ‘Entrepreneurship Development and Incubation Centre’ that will benefit the students of the university as well as the general public, with the active involvement of Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) Ahmadabad, industrial houses and venture capital funding agencies. The Centre will provide an enabling atmosphere to the would-be entrepreneur to realize his/her dreams through a variety of workshops, training programmes and handholding activities.
Transport
The Azara Campus has chartered buses to ply between the city and the University daily. The Tapesia Campus is also very well connected by city buses, and trekker taxi services.
Language Lab
The university has set up a spacious computerised language lab to facilitate the learning of Spoken English among the students. A number of students who join the University are from vernacular medium educational background and, as such, they need to be taught afresh the English language. The Lab facilitates the teaching-learning of expressions in English in different contexts and the pronunciation of words, sentences and expressions with user-friendly audio–visual aids. It aims at enabling the students to learn and correct themselves so as to be able to communicate in English confidently with a reasonable fluency and clarity.
